Craft Services Internship available for a film of King Lear.

 

This intern will report to the Producer.  He/she will assist with the ordering and managing of food for the cast and crew as well as general assistance on set.  The position will be based in the Washington DC metro area for the production phase of the film. This intern will learn many aspects of the filming process, but primarily within the craft services department, as in ordering food for a large number of people, negotiating with vendors and sticking to budget.  Other responsibilities will be to help maintain proper behavior and safety on set and to assist the cast and crew as needed.  This intern must be organized, persuasive, attentive to detail, and able to communicate efficiently and diplomatically.  Two or more years of college, college graduate, or grad-student preferred.  A car is necessary. Production Assistant Internships available for a film of King Lear.

 

These interns will report to the film’s 1st AD and Department Head.  The positions will be based in the Washington DC metro area for the prep and/or shoot phases of the film.  They will assist various departments depending on where assigned.  Duties will vary but may include: answering phones, acting as a courier, keeping the set clean, serving as runner, set changes, prop management, dressers etc.  The interns will learn the ins and outs of production from the view of multiple departments and positions.  Such a broad entry-level position will provide valuable experience to anyone wanting to work in film or theater.  Interns must have patience and stamina, as days can be long and slow for PAs.  Extensive experience is not required as enthusiasm and a willingness to learn and collaborate are most important. Two or more years of college, college graduate, or grad-student preferred.  A car would be very helpful. Art Department Internships available in Rochester, NY and DC for a film of King Lear.

 


This intern will report to the film’s Production Designer.  The position will be based in the Washington DC metro area for the prep and shoot phases of the film.  He/she will assist with the construction and maintenance of the set and with set changes.  This intern will learn the production process from a design and carpentry standpoint. This intern must have excellent carpentry skills and must be able to handle a variety of tools.  He/she must be detail oriented and efficient.  Background in carpentry for film or theatre is required, as well as precision and punctuality.  Two or more years of college, college graduate, or grad-school student preferred.  A positive attitude and willingness to collaborate and learn is most important.  This internship opportunity provides hands-on experience.  It is an unpaid position, but the successful applicant will receive a screen credit, an IMDb credit, and a DVD of the film.  There are openings for the DC metro area Maar-Apr 2015.   Our preference is for a commitment for the entire period, but is not a requirement.  Applicants should submit a cover letter detailing skill sets and a resume to learfirst@gmail.com

 

Sound Internship available for a film of King Lear.

 

This intern will report to the Sound Mixer.  The position will be based in the Washington DC metro area for the prep and shoot phases of the film.  He/she may operate a boom and will assist in placement and maintenance of wireless mics.  This intern will learn how to record sound and operate equipment properly and effectively while staying out of the way. This position requires stamina, dexterity, and the ability to quickly become familiar with the movement of the actors and the camera.  The intern will be interacting with the crew and cast regularly so an approachable professional attitude is necessary.  Background with sound in film is required.  Two or more years of college, college graduate, or grad-student preferred. Marketing Internship available for a film of King Lear.  

 

This intern will report to the Executive Producer.  The film will be shot in the DC metro area.  While some aspects of the job can be handled remotely, the ability to be on set during production at some time Nov-Jan 2014 is required.  He/she will assist in designing and executing a marketing campaign across multiple platforms.  This position requires creativity, efficiency, excellent writing and communication skills, knowing how to work with photos online, and an ability to utilize including social media strategies.  A background in marketing for film or theatre is required.  Photoshop, web design and coding skills are highly preferred.  Two or more years of college, college graduate, or grad-student preferred.  This internship opportunity provides hands-on experience.  It is an unpaid position, but the successful applicant will receive a screen credit, an IMDb credit, and a DVD of the film.  Applicants should submit a cover letter detailing skill sets and a resume to learfirst@gmail.com
